Absolute dosimetry

is a technique that yields information directly on Absorbed DOSE in Gy. This absolute dosimetric measurement can be also referred as calibration. All further measurements are then compared to this known DOSE under reference conditions.

- Required for every radiation quality

- Determination of absorbed dose (in Gy) at one reference point in a phantom

- Reference condition e.g. well defined general circumstances and geometry

  ( Machine / Beam / Medium... / SSD / Field size / Depth .. )

- Necessary to follows a standard protocol
